In the afternoon of October 19, DP President Renho met with Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong at party headquarters. At the start of the meeting Renho expressed her appreciation for the Ambassador’s visit. In response, the Ambassador thanked Renho and went on to congratulate her on her recent appointment to DP President. He went on to comment on Japan-Vietnam relations, including overseas development aid, national characteristics shared by the two countries and the current situation in Vietnam, which has increasing young workforce.
In return, Renho emphasized the importance of exchanges between
the two countries, saying, “I hope that Vietnam will continue to
enjoy further development and that human exchanges will deepen
still further.” DP International Department Director-General
Hiroe Makiyama, who had also attended the meeting, referred to
exchanges between the DP and the Communist Party of Vietnam and
stated that the party placed importance on relations with
Vietnam. The meeting was also attended by DP Next Minister of
Defense Yoichiro Aoyagi.
