In the morning of May 26, DP President Renho met with the Prime Minister of the German state of Lower Saxony, Stephan Weil during the latter’s visit to Japan.

At the start of the meeting, Weil expressed his appreciation to Renho for meeting with him.  In response, Renho thanked him for inviting her to visit Lower Saxony.  She also pointed out that Japan and Lower Saxony shared the automobile industry in common, and expressed reservations for the way in which protectionism was becoming increasingly prevalent around the globe.

Renho and Weil discussed a wide variety of subjects such as the way free-trade system ought to be, energy policy, and aging societies.

The meeting was also attended by DP Director-General Hiroe Makiyama, Vice Director-General Junya Ogawa, and Vice Secretary General Shinji Oguma.
