On May 6, Democratic Party (DP) General Meeting of Diet
Members Chair Masaharu Nakagawa, DP Shadow Minister for Foreign
Affairs Yukihisa Fujita, and DP International Department
Director-General Hiroe Makiyama were interviewed by the Weekly New
York Seikatsu in New York during
their stay in the U.S. from late April to early May.
In the interview, Nakagawa
proposed a good use of Japanese official facilities overseas, as a
center for Japanese learners.
Fujita expressed his concern
over the Trump administration’s change in working visa, which could
have impact on the Japanese nationals working in the
U.S.
Makiyama told of her
willingness to introduce Internet voting system for the Japanese
voters outside the country.
The DP diet members had been in
Washington for Japan- U.S. parliamentarian bilateral meeting,
hosted by the Mansfield Foundation.
